PSU bank employees have begun a protest against Indian Banks Association (IBA) on social media. The disgruntled employees have been waiting for wage hikes for over a year now, and their ire has poured on to Twitter with a hashtag ScrapIBA. The hashtag has been trending.
The association has held over a dozen meetings in the last one year with bank employee associations. Yet the issue remains unresolved. The issue also cover other monetary benefits like pension and more to over a million people employed across banks in India.
Employees say that despite receiving a cabinet approval for a bonus, IBA is yet to take a stand on ensuring that the they receive them.

In the 10th bipartite settlement, 15% hike in salaries was approved by the IBA and bank unions. But, they received a meager 2% increase in the basic pay. The employees have also raised questions on the hybrid allowance given to them known as ‘Special Allowance’. These special allownces are being clubbed with LTA and other benefits which is keeping bank employee pay leaner.
